Have a question? You’re not alone. Here are some of the most common things we’re asked about treatment, insurance, and what to expect at our practice.
Q: Do you accept my insurance?
A: We are a fee-for-service office and are considered out-of-network with all insurance plans. We’ll file claims on your behalf to help you receive any reimbursement your plan may offer. While we don’t have direct contracts with insurance providers, we’re happy to walk you through the process and estimate what your plan might cover.
Q: Do you treat complex or previously failed cases?
A: Yes. Dr. Dexter is a prosthodontist with advanced training in restoring complex and difficult cases. Whether you’ve experienced failed dental work or have unique challenges due to anatomy, trauma, or past medical treatment, we can help you find a stable, long-term solution.
Q: Do you offer sedation options?
A: We offer local anesthesia for most procedures and can coordinate IV sedation through a trusted partner if needed. This is typically recommended for longer treatments or for patients with dental anxiety. Let us know your concerns, and we’ll work with you to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Q: What makes prosthodontics different from general dentistry?
A: Prosthodontists complete three additional years of specialized training beyond dental school. This includes focused experience in implant restorations, full-mouth rehabilitation, and maxillofacial prosthetics. Dr. Dexter combines this expertise with years of clinical experience to help restore comfort, confidence, and long-term function especially in cases where others may have struggled.
Q: Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
A: While many of our patients are referred by other dentists or specialists, you don’t need a referral to schedule with us. If you’ve been struggling with dental issues or want a second opinion, we’re happy to help.
Q: Can you help me understand my treatment options?
A: Absolutely. We take time to walk you through each option, explain the pros and cons, and answer any questions. You’ll never feel rushed or pressured into a decision.
Q: What should I bring to my appointment?
A: Please bring your driver’s license, any relevant medical history, a list of medications, and insurance information. If applicable, your referring dentist should send us your recent X-rays in advance.
Q: Do you treat patients with medical conditions or special considerations?
A: Yes. Dr. Dexter has extensive experience treating patients with complex medical histories, including those undergoing cancer treatment, managing autoimmune disorders, or recovering from trauma or surgery.
